Our
Programs
National Preparedness Network (NPN) builds practical resilience through education, community partnerships, and hands-on local projects. Our programs are designed to strengthen households and neighborhoods by improving readiness, skills, and long-term stability. Explore our current initiatives below and see how to get involved as a partner, volunteer, sponsor, or community host.
Resilient Threads is NPN’s community skills and connection program that turns everyday learning into stronger support networks. We teach practical life skills such as sewing, mending, cooking basics, and preparedness fundamentals while creating a welcoming space for individuals, families, and partners to contribute. The idea is simple: one thread is weak, but threads woven together become a stronger fabric. Each person, agency, business, and investor is a thread, and the program becomes the weaver, creating a community that holds up under pressure.
Disaster EDU is the National Preparedness Network’s public education and readiness training initiative. The program delivers practical preparedness instruction for individuals, families, schools, and community organizations. Courses are built around realistic risks and teach people how to plan, respond, and recover with confidence instead of panic. Instruction includes the Four Pillars of Preparedness framework, personal and household planning, emergency supplies, communications, and basic response skills. Disaster EDU strengthens communities by turning knowledge into capability and by helping local partners host trainings and outreach events.
